Paul Becker at Sans titre, Paris: A Meditation on Urbanity and Attention
John Douglas Millar recently shared insights about Paul Becker's group exhibition set for 2025 at Sans titre in Paris. He emphasizes how Becker's artwork captures urban emotions and plays with perceptions of time. Amid his fourth battle with Covid-19 since 2021, Millar finds comfort in Becker's book, 'How I Made the Kick Inside,' during his first illness. He suspects he contracted the virus while traveling on the TGV from Perpignan to Paris, where he saw a burning hillside. Becker believes that art created with intense focus can achieve consciousness, citing Chardin’s work. Millar also references De Sica’s 1952 film, 'Umberto D.' Paul Becker, born in 1967, lives in London and has an extensive exhibition background, while Millar is a Scottish writer in London. Nadia Hebson, born in 1974, is an artist and the Head of Graduate Painting at Slade School of Fine Art.
