Patti Smith Performs at Jacques Marie Mage's SoHo Gallery Opening
Jacques Marie Mage opened a new 'gallery' on Wooster Street in SoHo, New York, on Thursday evening. The three-story space features chrome cabinetry, zebra-print lounge chairs, and a wolf skull sculpture by Quentin Garel. Founder Jérôme Mage described the space as a reminder to pursue beauty. Guests were served Krug Champagne, caviar-topped blinis, and Hibiki whiskey. Wildlife biologist Doug Smith, who led the reintroduction of gray wolves into Yellowstone National Park in 1995, spoke about the natural world. Patti Smith performed three songs—'People Have the Power,' 'Ghost Dance,' and 'Because the Night'—accompanied by guitarist Tony Shanahan. Attendees included Grace Gummer, Mark Ronson, Collier Schorr, Erin Wasson, Lou Doillon, Emma Emhoff, Nan Goldin, and Steven Klein. The brand has a decade-long partnership with Yellowstone National Park. Guests received goodie bags containing a coffee table book by the sculptor.
