Pathos Formulas: Fashion, Visual Arts, and Publishing Converge at Pitti Uomo 110
At Pitti Uomo 110, the Istituto Europeo del Design (IED) unveiled 'Pathos Formulas,' curated by Francesca Gavin. This exhibition showcases the work of 17 IED students organized into nine research clusters, examining expressive forms in fashion, drawing inspiration from Aby Warburg's Pathosformel. Celebrating IED's 60th anniversary, the event aligns with the theme 'Plural Intelligences,' which underscores the significance of AI and technology in reshaping narratives. Notable projects include 'Modern Antoinette' by Emma Brondi and Alessia Boldrini, which critiques luxury and femininity, and 'Memory Silhouette' by Luca Dessì and Alberto Michisanti, which juxtaposes sartorial perfection with decay. Benedetta Lenzi, director of IED Florence, highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue. A related exhibition will take place at Romaeuropa in October.
