Panter&Tourron on Redefining Luxury Design Codes from Lausanne
In a designboom interview, the Lausanne-based design studio Panter&Tourron, established by Stefano Panterotto and Alexis Tourron, discusses their understated objects and a new take on luxury. The duo met while studying at École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL) and subsequently launched their studio. In 2022, they designed home items for Balenciaga under creative director Demna and Chief Creative Officer Martina Tiefenthaler; these items, including candles and lunch sets, gained attention on social media and were spotted on supermodel Bella Hadid's coffee table. Their Signal ceramic table lamp featured in the Apple TV series Silos, while the Hall lamp was developed with BWB Group and showcased by Profiler Special Projects. The studio has drawn inspiration from Hermès window displays, with vibrant storefronts in Zurich (2016, 2026) and Lausanne (2016). During Milan Design Week 2023, they unveiled Softscope, a large purple pyramidal seating piece, in collaboration with XL EXTRALIGHT® at Capsule Plaza and contributed to Studio di pittura's Diurno lounge. Tourron emphasizes that luxury is termed 'high-end' due to meticulous attention to detail, highlighting the significance of storytelling alongside the product. This interview is featured in designboom's SPECTATOR AND SPECTACLE chapter, in collaboration with SolidNature.
