Palermo shop window becomes exhibition space for young Sicilian artists
In Palermo, the GLASS-ROOM – Arte in trasparenza initiative, a collaboration between CoopCulture, RISO – Museo regionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea della Sicilia, and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo, turns a museum window into a link between art and the city. Curated by Daniele Franzella, the project showcases three installations available around the clock. The first piece, Staffage by Maria Tindara Azzaro (born 1999), reimagines background elements using fabric volumes. The second installation, Teratoteca by Tony Lombardo (born 2001), examines early 20th-century orthopedic devices for WWI veterans through resin prostheses. The series will conclude in September with Aurora Amorelli (born 2000), who investigates themes of duality using foam rubber. GLASS-ROOM seeks to foster connections among artists and institutions in Sicily.
