Paço das Artes Opens 30th Temporada de Projetos with Focus on Memory and Identity

exhibition · 2026-06-09

Paço das Artes in São Paulo inaugurates on June 16, 2026, the 30th edition of its Temporada de Projetos, a program supporting emerging Brazilian art and curatorship since 1996. Free admission runs until September 6. The 2026 edition features three artistic projects and one curatorial proposal selected by a jury including Alexandre Sequeira, Lívia Aquino, Cecília Bedê, and curator Renato De Cara. Works explore ancestry, identity, gender, memory, and displacement. Juniara Albuquerque presents 'Estudos sobre ossos,' transforming animal bones into suspended sculptures coated with automotive paint, referencing her family history. Karina Walter's 'Eu posso me rebelar contra a porcelana' uses porcelain, stockings, and hardware to examine the social construction of the female body and domestic gender roles. Venezuelan artist Oriana Pérez offers 'La cura para el inmigrante es encontrar nuevos códigos,' an installation reflecting on migration, belonging, and cultural reinvention against the backdrop of the Venezuelan diaspora. The curatorial project 'As nossas imagens' by Rodrigo Lopes gathers works by Anderson Feliciano, Eliana Amorim, Pedra Silva, and Val Souza to discuss family albums and photographic archives from Black and Indigenous perspectives, addressing historical erasures from colonialism.
