Ottolenghi Edinburgh Opens with Scottish Twist and Gilles & Cecilie Artwork
Yotam Ottolenghi's new restaurant opens on 2 October 2026 at 92 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 3DF. The chef expressed confidence in the city's food scene, citing local growers, producers, and fishermen. Executive chef Neil Campbell, who grew up on the Isle of Skye and spent a decade shaping Ottolenghi's cuisine, designed a menu that merges Ottolenghi's signature style with Scottish ingredients. Suppliers include Welch's fishmongers, Ochil langoustines, The Free Company, Phantassie, Katy Rodgers, Graham's, Chocolate Tree, Rhyze, Company Bakery, and Woven Whisky. Aprons are by local menswear designer Kestin. The breakfast-to-dinner dining room was designed by Alex Meitlis, who has collaborated with Ottolenghi for over 20 years. Meitlis described the design as a canvas for food, honoring the Georgian architecture of George Street with a central bar, bespoke furniture, and a garret-style private bar for up to 30 guests. Artists Gilles & Cecilie created a concept titled 'We Share the Same Sea,' linking Scotland and the southern Mediterranean through shared waters. The design critic Hugo Macdonald praised the restaurant's texture and color, contrasting it with Nordic-infused interiors. Ottolenghi credited Scottish hospitality as warm and unfussy.
