Oslo's Fall Art Season: Tandberg, Rødland, and Beier Explore Installation Choreography

exhibition · 2026-09-17

Oslo's post-summer art scene shifts with two concurrent exhibitions. STANDARD (OSLO) has moved from industrial spaces to Eilert Sundts gate 40, joining OSL contemporary to redefine the city's gallery map. At OSL contemporary, Vibeke Tandberg's 'Bodies and Clouds' uses black-and-white contrasts to capture smoke, while her retrospective 'De lever' at KODE in Bergen features heavy body casts. Tandberg's choreography of absence turns disappearance into a plastic event, guiding viewers through a formatted experience. At STANDARD (OSLO)'s new Uranienborg space, 'Sam & Sara' presents Nina Beier and Torbjørn Rødland's first two-person show. Beier's 'Field' fills the floor with hundreds of potted plants, forcing a guided path reminiscent of a commercial nursery. The press release references Goldschläger liqueur, its floating gold flakes symbolizing capitalist desire and visual merchandising. Rødland's photographs, including 'Funeral Home', push advertising and fashion codes to a disturbing extreme, aligning with the seriality of Beier's nursery. The exhibition explores how images and spaces now structure our consumption of reality, with the artists' installation choreography revealing the submission of emotions to visual devices.
