Oskouei Brothers' Carved Wood Sculptures Render Everyday Objects Useless

Saman and Sasan Oskouei, previously known as Icy & Sot, have created a series of wooden sculptures titled "The Weight of Less." The ongoing series features everyday objects such as ladders, school desks, doors, and industrial pallets, each punctured with irregular holes that strip them of their original function. The artists state that removing layers causes objects to lose their original purpose while gaining a new presence, exposing hidden rhythms and patterns within the material. Their practice often uses everyday materials for social and political critique, but this series represents a more understated mode of working, inviting viewers to reconsider the objects structuring daily life.
