Óscar Domínguez Survey at Galería Guillermo de Osma Reunites Decalcomanias and Last Painting
Until 6 November 2026, Madrid's Galería Guillermo de Osma is presenting an exhibition dedicated to Óscar Domínguez (1906–1957), showcasing approximately thirty pieces that underscore his impact on Spanish Surrealism, especially his innovative approach to Decalcomania. Among the highlighted works is Lyon-Bicyclette, with other versions housed in prominent museums. André Breton acknowledged Domínguez as a distinctive voice within Surrealism, and he became associated with Paul Éluard after Éluard's departure from the movement. Significant pieces include Camera Obscura and Les Cocottes en papier, while the Ateliers series illustrates the artist's workspace. The exhibition features animal symbolism, including self-portraits of him as a rhinoceros and caiman, concluding with Le Clown, his final artwork, before his suicide on 31 December 1957.
