Organico fantastico: Surrealist Legacy Meets Organic Matter at Bologna's Torre Unipol

Curated by Pasquale Fameli and Valentina Rossi, the group exhibition 'Organico fantastico' runs from June 10 to September 26, 2026, at CUBO, the museum of Gruppo Unipol, located on the 25th floor of Torre Unipol in Bologna. The show explores the surrealist heritage through a contemporary lens, focusing on the hybridisation of forms and the transformative potential of organic matter. It features works by five Italian contemporary artists—David Casini, Caterina Morigi, Marta Pierobon, Alessandro Roma, and Alberto Scodro—alongside two historical pieces from Gruppo Unipol's collection: Graham Sutherland's 'Suspended Form – Red Ground' (1962) and Alberto Savinio's 'Tombeau d'un roi maure' (1929). The exhibition posits that the fantastic reinvention of the organic is not bound to a specific chronology but is an intrinsic human condition. A catalogue with essays by the curators and interviews with the artists accompanies the show.
