Opéra Garnier's 'Vibrations' Trio Blends Taylor, Ek, and Pite

The Opéra Garnier in Paris presents 'Vibrations,' a summer program of three contemporary ballets. The program includes the Paris premiere of Micaela Taylor's 'Dreams This Way,' featuring 14 dancers in flesh-toned underwear moving like digitized robots to music by Tru, though the piece is noted for its cool aesthetic and lack of emotional depth. Mats Ek's 'Solo for Two,' the seventh of his works to enter the Opéra de Paris repertoire, is a poignant duet exploring the full spectrum of a couple's life, from love to old age, performed by Milo Avêque and Hanna O'Neill in the second cast, set to Arvo Pärt's hypnotic piano score. Crystal Pite's 'The Seasons' Canon,' a creation for 54 dancers of all ages set to Max Richter's composition based on Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons,' uses shifting light projections and earth-toned costumes to depict surreal scenes of bodies aggregating like fruits, trees, or migrating birds, culminating in a standing ovation. The program runs at the Opéra Garnier in summer 2026.
