OPEN: Seven Artists in Dialogue at Palazzo Buontalenti in Florence

At Palazzo Buontalenti, the European University Institute in Florence has launched OPEN, a contemporary art initiative overseen by curators Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli. This exhibition showcases the work of seven artists, including Johanna Gautier-Morin, who delve into the concept of the invisible economy, inspired by the publication 'Measuring the Invisible Economy' from Cambridge University Press. Historically known as the Casino Mediceo, the venue has served multiple purposes, including functioning as a courthouse until 2012. Central themes of the exhibition encompass gathering, exhaustion, irreversibility, and mutation. Featured pieces include Berlinde De Bruyckere's 'Arcangelo III (San Giorgio, 2023-2024)' and 'The Embalmer (Dornbirn)' (2015), Agnieszka Polska's 'The Book of Flowers' (2023), and Elena Mazzi's 'Sàpmi Flatbed.' The exhibition will be available for viewing until October 12, 2026.
