Open Call: Reimagine the Adriatic Waterfront at Marina Opatija

The sixth edition of M3 Monaco's Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous competition launches with an open call for ideas focused on Marina Opatija on Croatia's Kvarner Bay. Opatija, a historic seaside resort since the mid-19th century, features a 12-kilometer Lungomare promenade and over 150 plant species. The competition requires a sharp intervention with three mandatory buildings: a Marina Hub (hospitality, leisure, and harbor master observation floor), a Sailing School (classrooms, storage, changing rooms), and a Sea Attraction (public landmark). Optional landscape and infrastructure proposals are welcome. Six pillars guide submissions: sustainable development, wellness, historical integration, innovative design, contextual sensitivity, and community value. Entries must address at least three UN Sustainable Development Goals. Registration opens March 1, 2026; submissions close August 19, 2026. Top five finalists per category (Professional Architect and Architecture Student) present at Yacht Club de Monaco on September 20–21, 2026, with winners decided by public vote. Entry is free; submissions are anonymous and consist of eight A2 panels and an A3 notice in English.
