OMA Unveils Tenjin Business Center II in Fukuoka, a Gateway to Kyushu

OMA, led by Partner Shohei Shigematsu, has designed the Tenjin Business Center II in Fukuoka, Japan, a major office and retail complex slated for completion in 2026. The project, covering a total area of 62,720 square meters, includes 39,570 square meters of office space, 5,590 square meters of retail, and 4,760 square meters of 'Reboot!' area, with the remainder allocated to mechanical and other functions. The building is part of Fukuoka's transformation as the economic center of Kyushu Island and a gateway to East Asia. The design team includes Associate Takeshi Mitsuda and a large international team. The executive architect is Maeda Corporation and Shun Architect Office, with Maeda also serving as general contractor. The landscape architect is Oryza inc., interior architect is Gensler, and lighting is by Lighting Planners Associate. Façades are by YKK Corporation, and graphics, signage, and wayfinding are by 6D-K co., Ltd. The project is categorized under office buildings and sustainability.
