OMA's Palais de Justice de Lille Set for 2026 Completion on Vauban's Former Fortifications
The Palais de Justice de Lille, designed by OMA, is set to be completed in 2026 and will cover an area of 24,000 m², located on the site of the former Vauban fortifications. Key collaborators on the project include Rem Koolhaas, Chris van Duijn, and Ellen van Loon, with architects Alice Grégoire, Edouard Perves, and Saskia Simon leading the design. A diverse team, featuring Adrianne Fisher and Anna Speakman, also contributed. Engineering services are provided by WSP and WSP Norge, while Transsolar focuses on sustainability, 8'18" on lighting, and Lasa on acoustics. Eiffage serves as the contractor, Saison Menu & Associés Architectes Urbanistes acts as the local architect, and cost engineering is managed by Bureau Michel Forgue. Photographers François-Xavier Gbré and Alex Retegan captured the project. The architects stress the importance of modernity while preserving the city's character.
