OMA Completes Hangzhou Prism Mixed-Use Development in China's Future Tech City
In the Future Tech City area of Hangzhou, OMA has completed the Hangzhou Prism, an important mixed-use development. This project, commissioned by Xinhu Real Estate Group, was led by OMA Partner Chris van Duijn and architect Michael Hadjistyllis. It combines residential units, a hotel, offices, retail spaces, and public amenities all within one structure. Notably, this is OMA's first finished project in Hangzhou, located in a vital part of the city's innovation and business sector. The building has a unique pyramidal design with two diagonal cuts that improve views towards the high-speed rail station and a nearby park. Additionally, a large outdoor atrium at the base serves as a public civic space. The Hangzhou Prism joins recent global projects like Studio Gang's Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center and Herzog & de Meuron's Tour Triangle in Paris.
