OMA/AMO and OPEN Architecture Design Inaugural Exhibitions for Powerhouse Parramatta

Powerhouse Parramatta, a new museum located in western Sydney, Australia, is scheduled to open its doors on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The expansive 30,000-square-meter facility, crafted by Moreau Kusunoki in collaboration with Genton and Arup, was originally projected for completion in 2025. It will showcase five exhibitions, featuring over 3,000 artifacts, including 1,600 from the Powerhouse Collection and 45 new commissions from 14 different countries. Highlights include Task Eternal, which explores the history of human flight, and The Mall, which investigates the influence of shopping malls on urban environments. Additionally, the museum will offer a residential learning program for 10,000 students each year and various specialized amenities. Powerhouse Parramatta is part of Australia’s largest museum network and an infrastructure revitalization initiative.
