OM System and Foxfire Launch Octamitten Photography Gloves With Built-In Lens Cap Pocket
OM System has collaborated with Foxfire to create the Octamitten Gloves, a photography accessory tailored for cold weather shooting. According to Digital Camera Watch, these gloves transform into mittens through a flap, merging the dexterity of thin gloves with the warmth of mittens. A detachable thumb cover allows access to dials and touchscreens, while fingers can be fully exposed with the palm remaining protected. The exterior is made from abrasion-resistant Cordura, and the lining ensures flexibility, warmth, and breathability. The palm features microfleece with rubber dots for grip. Two pockets enhance functionality: an upper pocket for a heat warmer packet and a lower wrist pocket for a lens cap up to 72mm. Timco, Foxfire's parent company, emphasized that the gloves are designed to help photographers focus on capturing moments, even in winter. Previously, OM System and Foxfire worked together on a trash pouch for hikers. The gloves retail for 11,680 yen, approximately $74, in Japan, with no plans for international release.
