OlssønBarbieri Designs Sculptural Packaging for Stereoscope Coffee
OlssønBarbieri, a design studio located in Oslo, has developed a comprehensive visual identity and packaging design for Stereoscope, a coffee roaster based in Los Angeles and established by Leif An. This design emphasizes Coffee Arabica as a vulnerable species, inspired by the stereoscope tool and An's philosophy: "In pursuit of depth and simplicity." It integrates elements of Chinese cosmology, featuring yin-yang duality and circular shapes. Rather than conventional pouches, the design utilizes four seasonal color palettes and sculptural paperboard containers. A unique grotesque sans serif font reflects the five petals of the coffee blossom. Retail boxes are crafted from FSC-certified paperboard, complete with a tear-off strip and rounded hot foil stamping. Inside, whole beans are packaged in biodegradable bags that include personal stories. The project can be viewed on Behance.
