Ole Falkentorp's 1935 Badehotel Reopens as Five-Star CORI Hornbaek on Denmark's Zealand Coast
In late September 2023, the CORI Hornbaek Hotel commenced operations in Hornbaek, Zealand, located 45 minutes north of Copenhagen. This luxurious five-star establishment boasts 77 rooms and five townhouses. Initially crafted by Ole Falkentorp in 1935, it has a rich history as a badehotel, a site during the Nazi occupation in WWII, and later functioned as a hospital before being purchased by property group Copi in 2022. Under the leadership of Jesper Brunander and Maria Brunander Vøgg, Copi focuses on heritage buildings. Architecture was overseen by Danish firm NVMBR, with one-third of the structure being new additions. The interiors, designed by Afroditi Krassa, feature unpolished sand-hued marble and bespoke furnishings. Amenities include a spa and a restaurant helmed by Bocuse d'Or winner Brian Mark Hansen.
