Oh la la 2: French Comedy Sequel Recycles Same Plot and Jokes

The sequel to the 2024 French comedy 'Oh la la' premiered, directed by Rolf von der Reith and starring Christian Clavier and Didier Bourdon. The film follows the same plot as its predecessor: Frédéric Bouvier-Sauvage (Clavier), a Bordeaux winemaker, and Gérard Martin (Bourdon), his future in-law, discover through DNA tests that they are not purely French. In the first film, Frédéric learned he had Cherokee ancestry, and Gérard's father was German. In the sequel, a new, improved test reveals even more shocking results: Frédéric is half Turkish, and Gérard's mother is Algerian. The two patriarchs, who despise each other, must reconcile to avoid ruining their children's wedding. The film's premise could have been a biting satire on French national pride, but it devolves into a string of outdated clichés and jokes about national stereotypes. The predictable happy ending with a wedding banquet comes as a relief. The film is produced by White and Yellow Films and SND.
