Objects With Narratives Opens Appointment-Only Bruges Outpost in 18th-Century Mansion

Objects With Narratives, founded by brothers Nik and Robbe Vandewyngaerde and Oskar Eryatmaz, has returned to Bruges with a new appointment-only gallery inside the Hôtel d’Hanins de Moerkerke, an 18th-century mansion built atop a former Dominican monastery. The space, which underwent extensive restoration after years of neglect, features an enfilade plan typical of Baroque architecture. The inaugural exhibition, “A Series of Rooms,” presents works by gallery artists including Laurids Gallée, Conrad Hicks, Studio Narra, Manuel Bañó, Paul Cocksedge, Jan Ernst, Ben Storms, Benoît Viaene, Christine Jacobs, Maarten Vrolijk, KRJST Studio, Lionel Jadot, and Lukas Cober within restored interiors that evoke a collector’s apartment. Co-founder Robbe Vandewyngaerde, a former OMA architect, emphasized the gallery’s preference for spaces with strong identity over neutral white boxes. The opening coincides with Bruges’ cultural resurgence, partly driven by the new Brusk exhibition hall. Dries Van Noten recently acquired a mirrored sculpture by Ben Storms for his Manhattan boutique, and his Fondazione Dries Van Noten in Venice champions craftsmanship across disciplines.
