OBJECTS: USA Returns at San Francisco's Museum of Craft and Design After 50 Years

exhibition · 2026-09-06

From September 5, 2026, to January 17, 2027, the Museum of Craft and Design (MCD) in San Francisco will host OBJECTS: USA. This exhibition, organized in collaboration with R & Company, showcases more than 70 pieces that encompass historic and modern furniture, sculpture, fiber art, jewelry, and design. It builds upon R & Company's 2020 initiative that revisited the Smithsonian American Art Museum's original 1969 OBJECTS: USA, which featured over 300 artists. Notable historic works by Wendell Castle and George Nakashima are presented alongside contemporary creations by the Haas Brothers. The exhibition emphasizes California's significance in the studio craft movement and reflects on American artisans during the nation's 250th anniversary.
