Objects of Common Interest unveils 'Colour Field' pavilion from stone offcuts in Shoreditch

The design team Objects of Common Interest, based in Athens and New York, has unveiled 'Colour Field', a summer pavilion situated in Shoreditch's Principal Place. This installation, commissioned by Brookfield Properties and co-curated with Alter-Projects, will be displayed from June to September 2026 during the London Festival of Architecture 2026. Made entirely from unpolished marble, quartzite, and travertine offcuts collected from Solid Nature's surplus in Brazil, Iran, Italy, China, Spain, and Turkey, the geometric blocks rise to heights of two metres and serve as seating while hosting meditation sessions and events. Co-founder Eleni Petaloti describes it as 'part landscape, part modern ruin, part meeting place', with visitors as the 'main protagonist'. This pavilion adds to a series of temporary structures previously created by Simone Brewster, Foster + Partners, and John Booth.
