Oberdoerfer & Krebs present hand-bent 3D-printed seating at 3daysofdesign

At 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, design duo Oberdoerfer & Krebs (Jasper Krebs and Bruno Oberdoerfer) presented Bend Chair and Bend Stool, 3D-printed seating that is reheated and hand-bent after printing. The pieces were shown at Ukurant, a group show of emerging designers. The furniture uses pre-programmed bend zones in the toolpath, allowing selected parts to soften for manual shaping. The duo also showed UpsideDown, a wall-mounted rack made by deliberately sending the printer off-path so extruded plastic sags into hooks, and Human Layers, a vase using pellet-extrusion printing with timed color changes inspired by ikat textile dyeing. Human Layers was created for the Biennale for Craft & Design. The Bend Stool began as Jasper Krebs' third semester project at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. The studio uses colorFabb LW-PLA filament, which foams in middle layers to reduce material use.
