NYCEDC Revitalizes MADE: Bush Terminal for Brooklyn's Creative Economy

The NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has transformed the historic MADE: Bush Terminal into a center for the creative economy along Brooklyn's Sunset Park waterfront. With a design by nARCHITECTS, this facility offers 140,000 square feet for manufacturing and an additional 30,000 square feet dedicated to public events. It is expected to create 165 permanent jobs and contribute $2.6 billion to the economy over three decades. The ground floor will feature Public Records, a music venue from Gowanus, as a community space. Interim President and CEO Jeanny Pak highlighted the initiative's importance in enhancing opportunities for all New Yorkers and bolstering the industrial ecosystem. Tenants include Stickbulb, which has expanded to over 27,000 square feet, and 3D-printing hub Makelab, among others. The surrounding Sunset Park area also encompasses the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT), home to businesses like Audible Difference and EcoLogic Solutions. Additionally, NYCEDC has introduced BATWorks, a climate innovation hub, and a cultural partnership with Public Service. Established in the late 19th century, Bush Terminal was once the largest multi-tenant industrial campus in the U.S. and significantly influenced New York's maritime history.
