Nube Italia Debuts Dafne Armchair by Studio Zest at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026

architecture-design · 2026-09-22

Nube Italia unveiled the Dafne armchair, designed by Studio Zest, as a new product at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026. The piece reinterprets the archetypal enveloping armchair as a compact contemporary seat with a strong graphic presence, combining a curved upholstered backrest with legs in solid ash stained in the brand's colors. Dafne belongs to Nube's new collection; the Italian upholstered furniture company is based in Brianza, a region historically tied to Made in Italy furniture production. Founded in 1958, Nube has in recent years undergone a renewal of its identity and catalogue guided by architect and designer Fabio Fantolino, the brand's current art director. The curved backrest creates a kind of refuge around the user, and the relatively compact proportions allow the piece to work both in a living room and in smaller spaces, while the upholstered volume provides the comfort expected of an armchair. The structure is completed by solid ash wood legs stained in Nube's characteristic colors; the meeting of wood and textile is resolved without excess, with the base providing visual structure and warmth while the upholstered body concentrates softness and welcome. Studio Zest is an Italian studio formed by Cristian Gori, Giacomo Fimia and Denis Barbiero, who resumed their collaboration to create a practice combining knowledge of the furniture sector, Italian production tradition and a contemporary sensitivity to detail.
