Swedish studio Note (design studio) has designed the Avant Lounge Chair for New Zealand firm Resident. The chair explores the balance between comfort, presence, and formal experimentation, turning disproportion into a design resource. Its deliberately oversized and slightly misaligned armrests blur the boundary between object and space. The solid wood swivel base, with its exaggerated scale, creates shadows and voids that alter perception as the user moves around it, giving the piece an almost sculptural quality. The deep, enveloping seat offers a relaxed experience suitable for reading corners, living rooms, or hotel lobbies.
