Nota to Open Not a Museum in Tokyo's Imperial Hotel Plaza Before Demolition
Nota is set to unveil its inaugural cultural venue, Not a Museum, within the Imperial Hotel Plaza in Tokyo. This 2,000-square-metre space is slated for demolition as part of the Imperial Hotel Tokyo tower's reconstruction. Nota will utilize floors one through four from the summer of 2027 until 2031. The demolition has been postponed due to escalating construction expenses. The project will be designed by Nota's subsidiary, Not a City, in collaboration with SKWAT, headed by Keisuke Nakamura of Daikei Mills. This venue aims to serve as an innovative hub for art, music, literature, cinema, and fashion. Additionally, Not a City is developing Japa Valley Tokyo, a new district launching in 2027, featuring designs by Pharrell Williams and Nigo. SKWAT has previously organized exhibitions for Kwangho Lee and Herzog & de Meuron.
