Norwich University of the Arts showcases rehabilitative prison and other projects

Norwich University of the Arts' Interior Design programme has presented a range of student projects, including a rehabilitative women's prison with crafting spaces, a Brutalist student block reimagined with biophilic principles, and a subterranean community beneath a former radar station. The projects were featured in a Dezeen School Show. The prison proposal by Izabela Wesolowska is set within St. James Mill in Norwich and includes workshops for crafts, textiles, and vocational skills, as well as mother and baby units. Other projects include Katie Gardiner's (Re)Remembering, which reimagines a graveyard as an active public landscape; Mya Frost's City Walls, which engages fragments of Norwich's historic wall; Olivia Stribbling's Framing Silence in Thetford Forest; Orlane Mboukou-Etoney's Memoria-Viva, a counter-memorial pavilion about women in Ancient Rome; Robyn Holmes' The Theatre of Power on coastal cliffs; Eve Holmes' Bairn youth centre in Victor Pasmore's Apollo Pavilion in Peterlee; Harrison Kennedy's Zigeden at the University of East Anglia Ziggurats; and Janina Rundberg's Subterranean Futures beneath RAF Bardhill Radar Station. The course is led by tutors Jason Wiggin, Gabriela Jimenez, Gaetano Drago, Teresa Stoppani, and Chiara Toscani.
