Noam Sinseau Turns Creole Slur Into Stage Show 'Makoumé Superstar' at Théâtre de L'Européen in Paris

Noam Sinseau, a comedian, has built a solo stage show around a Creole insult he heard repeatedly as a child in Martinique. The word "Makoumé" is used in Creole to demean gay people, and Sinseau has adopted it as the title and rallying cry of his performance, "Makoumé Superstar." The show is staged at the Théâtre de L'Européen in Paris and runs there until 27 November 2026. On stage, Sinseau dances, performs slam poetry and takes aim at intolerance, racism, homophobia and what the source describes as bad taste, converting the harassment he experienced into positive, communicative energy. Sinseau was a guest of Nathalie Amar on RFI. The RFI segment also featured the week's music pick: Kayz Loum, from RFI's music programming, presented an excerpt from Tiakola's new album, WpointM, in which the artist blends his melodic rap with sounds of the legendary Congolese group Zaïko Langa Langa. The day's playlist included Madonna's "Vogue" and "Boss" by Meryl and LeJuh. The item was published on 7 October 2026 at 18:37.
