No Life Without Death: Six Artists Explore Mortality at The Lightbox Museum

The Lightbox Museum in Woking presents 'No Life Without Death', an exhibition curated by Chelsey Chase of Cole-Levi Klimt, running from June 17 to June 28, 2026. The show features six artists: Paul Freud, Meryl Donoghue, Eva Yates, Orly Kritzman, Ana Luiza Rodrigues, and Charlotte Worthington. Freud works across painting, drawing, and sculpture, exploring memory and vulnerability. Donoghue uses photography, cyanotype, sculpture, and installation, blending scientific observation with folklore. Yates, an RCA MA Painting graduate, creates neo-surrealist figurative works addressing beauty culture and anxiety. Kritzman transforms clay and text through processes of breaking and repair, describing her practice as 'future archaeology'. Rodrigues, represented by Ricardo Fernandes Gallery, works with photography, sculpture, installation, and performance, focusing on emotional resonance of everyday objects. Worthington, also an RCA graduate and former television animator, combines painting, textiles, metal, and stitching to construct fragmented narratives. The exhibition frames mortality as an ongoing condition rather than an endpoint, arguing that facing grief clarifies life. Cole-Levi Klimt, founded by Chase, aims to create thought-provoking and accessible exhibitions, following earlier shows 'Ephemeral Imprints' and 'Renewal'. The program consistently explores impermanence, transformation, and loss.
