Nikki Ogunnaike, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire, and Philippe Fonzin married on July 24 at the Prospect Park Boathouse in Brooklyn, New York. The couple, who met in August 2014 at a birthday party in Manhattan, chose the venue for its personal significance and Beaux Arts architecture. The wedding blended New York fashion with Nigerian tradition, featuring a custom Brandon Maxwell ceremony gown, a Fear of God suit for the groom, and a second look in green aso ebi and agbada designed by Adeleke Sijuwade for the Nigerian spraying tradition. Nikki wore a 1986 Rolex Datejust and Mateo earrings, and the couple danced to Sade's 'Your Love Is King.' The wedding was planned with Fallon Carter, with a focus on working with women and vendors of color. Nikki's brother-in-law Deen officiated, and the ceremony included readings from 1 Corinthians and Ecclesiastes.
