Nicolas Deshayes Opens Seaside Show at Champ Lacombe in Biarritz

Nicolas Deshayes's self-titled exhibition opened at Champ Lacombe gallery in Biarritz, France, owned by gallerist Lucy Chadwick. The show features ceramic works including earthenware shells glazed in leopard and tiger patterns, a glossy chocolate wave wall piece, and 'Swans'—the artist's first ceramic work consisting of two sinks in lemon and dusty pink hung like portraits, a nod to Robert Gober. The opening drew collectors like Michael Ringier and Gabriel Calparsoro, curators Cédric Fauq (CAPC Bordeaux, soon Moderna Museet), fashion designers Jonny and Teresa Johansson (Acne Studios), Johan Lindeberg (J.Lindeberg), and artist Gina Folly. Chadwick, formerly a senior director at Gavin Brown's Enterprise, relocated from New York in 2020 and opened the gallery in 2021. The afterparty at La Terraza coincided with a France-England World Cup watch party. Separately, a Banks Violette work was mistakenly listed on Artsy by Snow Gallery; Violette and his dealer Todd von Ammon clarified it was a temporary installation not for sale. A new invite-only London gallery, Ferrari x2, paired Louise Bourgeois with George W. Bush in a two-person show. Painter Lauren Quin married Anthony Salvador in Los Angeles.
