Nicola Tyson Discusses Cartoon Figuration at Art Brussels 2026
On Friday, April 24, from 3–3:50 PM at the Tribune, artist Nicola Tyson conversed with curator Felix Choong, coinciding with Tyson's solo booth at Art Brussels. They discussed cartoon figuration as a metaphor for contemporary bodily experience, addressing humor, violence, transformation, and societal pressures. Born in 1960, Tyson lives in New York and is known for painting, sculpture, photography, and writing. She ran Trial BALLOON in the early 1990s and published *Dead Letter Men* in 2013. Her exhibition *NEED* was on view at Petzel through April 25. Tyson's work is in MoMA, SFMOMA, and Tate Modern.
