Netflix's Department Q Season 2 Filming in Edinburgh: Behind the Scenes

The second season of Netflix's Department Q is currently filming in Edinburgh, Scotland, until October. The production, based on Jussi Adler-Olsen's novels, features elaborate sets at FirstStage Studios, including a four-times-larger replica of detective Carl Morck's New Town flat, a basement police station, and a full-scale police headquarters. The exterior of the headquarters is the brutalist Argyle House, which is slated for demolition after 2033, prompting the team to digitally scan the building. Executive producer Rob Bullock expressed sadness over the demolition, joking about anti-bribery rules. Showrunner Scott Frank, known for The Queen's Gambit, will direct all episodes this season, a first for him. The new season, based on the book Disgrace, is described as more ambitious with over 100 locations and major stunt sequences. Matthew Goode reprises his role as Morck, noting the character's grumpiness and the show's gallows humor. Leah Byrne returns as DC Rose Dickson, praising the show's Scottish identity. The production has also trained 60 young people through a scheme funded by Screen Scotland, Sony, and Left Bank Pictures. With eight more books in the series, the cast and crew are hopeful for a long run.
