Nemo Lighting's surreal Milan showroom by Ron Gilad reimagines retail

During Milan Design Week 2026, Nemo Lighting opened a permanent showroom at Via Santa Cecilia 4/A, designed by Ron Gilad. The space blurs boundaries between function, illusion, and play, with no traditional threshold—visitors enter through a glass façade or ring a silent doorbell that activates a light in a framed artwork. Inside, an eclectic mix includes Vico Magistretti's 1972 'Kuta' lamp, an AI-generated reinterpretation of Edward Hopper paintings, and Charlotte Perriand's 'Pivotante à Poser' hidden behind an orange canvas. Digital figures, fictional monks, and pigeons populate the surreal narrative. Historic classics like Le Corbusier's 'Parliament' (1963) face contemporary designs. A spiral staircase leads to technical spaces for brands Reggiani and ILTI Luce. CEO Federico Palazzari calls it a manifesto and an antidote to fragmented attention, aiming to invite concentration on how light is staged and experienced.
