Natalia Criado and Laboratorio Paravicini launch 'Metalia' tableware collection during Milan Design Week 2026

Designer Natalia Criado has collaborated with Milanese ceramics brand Laboratorio Paravicini on a new tableware collection called 'Metalia', blending silver-plated metalwork with hand-illustrated ceramics. The collection will debut during Milan Design Week 2026 from April 21-26 at Laboratorio Paravicini's Via Nerino workshop in an installation titled 'The Invisible Table'. Criado, a Colombia-born designer based in Milan since founding her eponymous brand in 2018, creates functional objects with sculptural qualities, often drawing from pre-Columbian ceramics and surrealist gestures. Laboratorio Paravicini is a family-run studio operated by Costanza Paravicini and her daughters Benedetta, Margherita, and Bona, known for their craft-led ceramics rooted in Milan's medieval center. The collaboration represents a dialogue between materials, with metal elements framing and protecting ceramic pieces to balance strength and fragility. Criado describes the installation as creating an atmospheric, disorienting experience that questions traditional notions of tables, focusing on psychological space rather than physical structure. She views the project not as a conclusion but as an opening for continued engagement with ceramics, reconnecting with a material she explored before working with metal. The designer appreciates Milan's dual nature of industrial speed and traditional craft, finding in this collaboration a way to participate in the city's intimate, lineage-based practices.
