Nasher Sculpture Center to Present Bruce Nauman's First Texas Museum Exhibition in 2026
The Nasher Sculpture Center will host "Bruce Nauman: Identical," an exhibition of recent sculptures and drawings that depict animal forms, running from September 19, 2026, through March 21, 2027. This marks the first time a Texas museum has organized a show for Nauman, who was born in 1941 in the United States. The works in the exhibition extend the artist's decades-long examination of his role as an artist and his daily studio practice. Over more than sixty years, Nauman has employed a wide array of media, including video, film, sound, neon, wax, and performance. His early pieces used his own body as subject matter, producing body casts and repetitive actions captured on video. He has also created monumental sculptures from common building materials, videos addressing violence, aggression, and comedy, and neon works featuring philosophical aphorisms and sexual content. The Nasher Sculpture Center announced the exhibition, which will be on view in Dallas.
