Narcisa Hirsch's Legacy Revisited: Retrospective 'Un Viaje Incógnito' Opens at Macro Rosario
The Museo de arte contemporáneo de Rosario (macro) is currently showcasing a significant retrospective of Argentine director Narcisa Hirsch (Berlin, 1928 – Bariloche, 2024) titled 'Narcisa Hirsch, un viaje incógnito.' This marks her inaugural exhibition in Rosario and includes films, graffiti, and artifacts that illustrate her experiences between Buenos Aires and Patagonia. Hirsch, who humorously referred to herself as 'una famosa cineasta desconocida,' dedicated over fifty years to film, poetry, happenings, and graffiti. Her films have been preserved by the Filmoteca Narcisa Hirsch, established in 2019 by her grandson Tomás Rautenstrauch and filmmaker Daniela Muttis. Notable pieces in the exhibition are 'Marabunta' (1967), 'Muñecos/Have a Baby' (1972–1973), and 'El mito de Narciso' (2011), along with her graffiti from 1979-1980.
