Naotaka Hiro's 'Others' Opens Across Both Herald St London Spaces

Naotaka Hiro, a Japanese artist living in Los Angeles, has opened his solo exhibition titled 'Others' at two Herald St locations in London—one in Bethnal Green and the other in Bloomsbury. This event will be available to the public until August 1, 2026. The exhibition showcases new paintings and a stainless steel sculpture, exploring the theme of the 'unknowable' by highlighting body parts that are often concealed. Using his own body as a canvas, Hiro spends two hours creating art on wood panels, letting his movements influence his color palette, which results in unique patterns representing vulnerability and protection. Among his works is 'Crossing,' featuring grommets and rope, and 'Lump 1,' a reformed wax cast of his body. Although he initially aimed for a career in film, Hiro also works as a videographer, actor, and director, balancing immersion and detachment in his art.
