Nanhai Buddha Pavilion by DoDesign on Chongqing Island
DoDesign has completed the Nanhai Buddha Pavilion on Little Nanhai, a turtle-shaped island at the confluence of the Tiaodeng and Yangtze rivers in Chongqing's Dadukou district. The 325 m² religious architecture sits on a cliff surrounded by bamboo and camphor trees, overlooking the Yangtze and the distant Yunzhuan mountains. The site once housed a temple dedicated to Nanhai Guanyin during the Tang and Song dynasties. The project was led by architects Shiyang Chen, Ruoyun Xu, and Zhengmeng Dong, with a design team including Zhiheng Wu, Xingbo Liu, and Zhiguang Jin. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2026.
