MVRDV's Nieuw Bergen Brings 237 Homes to Eindhoven with Mountain-Like Silhouette

Dutch architecture studio MVRDV completed Nieuw Bergen in June 2026 in Eindhoven, Netherlands, a residential development of seven interconnected buildings housing 237 units. Located in the historic De Bergen district, the project includes five new structures and two renovated former police stations. The buildings are named after colors—Orange, Bleu, Rouge, Violet, and Indigo—with Indigo rising 17 stories. Sloping rooflines at 45-degree angles maximize sunlight and support solar panels and green roofs. The development offers a mix of studios, family apartments, social housing, and luxury penthouses, plus ground-floor retail. Car-free public spaces and rooftop terraces with a greenhouse on Bleu foster community. MVRDV preserved two existing 20th-century buildings to reduce embodied carbon.
