MVRDV Completes La Vallée Verte Housing in Bordeaux

MVRDV has completed La Vallée Verte, a residential project in Bordeaux's Bastide Niel district. The 5,250 m² development provides 70 housing units of varying sizes, designed to attract residents at all life stages. The project features angular forms echoing the master plan's 'suncuts' and a lush circular interior courtyard dubbed a 'crater,' with planted terraces. The white exterior integrates into the innovative urban district, while the park-like courtyard offers a secluded space for residents and visitors. The project was led by founding partner Winy Maas and partner Bertrand Schippan, with a design team including Antoine Muller, Nicolas Land, and others. Co-architect was ADVENTO, and contractors included Ramery, Pyrenees Charpentes, Labastère, ATE Alu, and Bers33. Structural engineering and cost coordination were handled by ECOTECH, landscaping by A+R Paysage (Rémi Salles), and environmental consulting by ADER ECO.
