MVRDV and Balance Architettura to Renovate Turin's GAM
MVRDV, in collaboration with Balance Architettura, has presented an innovative renovation project for the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (GAM) located in Turin, Italy. Selected through a public competition held in December 2025, the team aims to restore the building's original design and light distribution from its 1959 inception by architects Carlo Bassi and Goffredo Boschetti. Key plans include the reinstatement of skylights, removal of internal partitions, and the addition of a new circulation system. Construction is expected to commence in late 2027, with support from Fondazione Torino Musei and funding from Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.
