Museu Vassouras Receives Sertão Negro Installation from 36th Bienal de São Paulo

On September 26, the Museu Vassouras in Vassouras, Rio de Janeiro, will launch 'Sertões: diálogos da 36ª Bienal de São Paulo,' which is set to run until April 4, 2027, and offers free entry. This exhibition marks the initial display outside the Pavilhão Ciccillo Matarazzo, in collaboration with Fundação Bienal de São Paulo, Instituto Sertão Negro, and Instituto Inhotim. Curated by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, the installation showcases works from various artists alongside the Kalunga quilombola community. Members from Quilombo Kalunga and Quilombo São José da Serra will create a hand-made taipa wall. Additionally, the show features images, audio testimonies, and Dalton Paula's video 'Óta Layó.' Concurrently, 'Vozes do Vale' will present pieces by Luiz Zerbini, Minerva Cuevas, and Rose Afefé.
