Museu do Amanhã opens applications for 2026 artistic residency

The Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro has opened applications for its 2026 artistic residency program, themed 'Inteligências na era do calor' (Intelligences in the age of heat). Curated by Lucas Albuquerque, the program explores the accelerating and incendiary nature of new technologies, including artificial intelligence and data flows, and their impact on contemporary art. Applications are open until May 15, 2025, for visual artists from across Brazil who are over 18 and have at least three years of artistic production. The residency includes an online phase from July 27 to August 7, followed by an in-person phase starting August 17 at the museum. Six artists will be selected by a jury comprising Froiid, Cleyton Santanna, and Ariana Nuala. A new initiative, the Arquivo Piroceno, will produce audiovisual content featuring mentors Gabriel Massan, Luiza Crossman, and Roberta Carvalho. The program is developed by the Laboratório de Atividades do Amanhã (LAA) and presented by Itaú.
