Museo Lia Acquires Four OZMO Works, First Living Artist in Permanent Collection
The Museo Civico “Amedeo Lia” in La Spezia has added four artworks by OZMO (Gionata Gesi) to its permanent collection, making him the first living contemporary artist represented. This acquisition is pivotal for the upcoming exhibition “OZMO X LIA 30,” which will run from July 2, 2025, to December 3, 2026, in honor of the museum's 30th anniversary. The exhibition will showcase 14 additional pieces by OZMO, including reimaginings of the Riace Bronzes and his inaugural marble sculpture, Pixelated Venus, alongside masterpieces by renowned artists such as Pontormo and Raphael. Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini highlighted the goal of merging contemporary art with tradition, while OZMO regards this acknowledgment as a major artistic challenge.
