Museo del Romanticismo Exhibits 17 Unpublished Drawings by Madrazo and Palmaroli on Roman Artistic Training
The Museo Nacional del Romanticismo in Madrid is hosting "El artista en Italia," which features seventeen previously unpublished sketches by Federico de Madrazo, Luis de Madrazo, and Vicente Palmaroli, all created prior to the establishment of the Spanish Academy in Rome. Thirteen of these pieces are new acquisitions from the Ministerio de Cultura. Curated by Mónica Rodríguez Subirana, the exhibition in Room XXV includes pencil sketches and watercolors showcasing women from Sorrento, Lazio, and Procida, along with young men from Naples. The title alludes to José Galofre's publication from 1851. This exhibition delves into the experiences of nineteenth-century artists in Rome and their sources of inspiration. Guided tours are available on 1, 8, and 15 October, with the exhibition continuing until 18 October 2026.
